Trail Maintenance Endowment
Lakeside's River Park Conservancy invites you to be a part of building the Lakeside River Park Maintenance Endowment for the first multi-use river park trail in Lakeside.
What is an endowment fund?
An endowment fund is a source of permanent funding for a project. Unlike regular donations, which are spent as operating funds, monies contributed to an endowment fund are pooled and invested. Only the interest on the investment is spent. In this way, the original contribution is preserved and continues to provide funding for the River Park.
Who decides how to invest the funds?
Lakeside's River Park Conservancy's endowment funds are managed by The San Diego Foundation.
What is the Trail Maintenance Edowment Fund for?
A Maintenance Endowment of $250,000 will allow us to
- Repair and replace dedication and interpretive signs along the trail
- Plant and maintain trees, flowers and shrubs along the trail
- Repair and maintain the lodge pole fencing along the trail
Lakeside's trail is a critical portion of the 52-mile master plan to have a trail extend all along the San Diego River, from its headwaters near Julian to the beach. We depend on your donations to preserve the river park vision for future generations.
